one OCH Regional Medical Center has added a new orthopedic surgeon to its team. Dr. Jordan Ferguson is one of the only full-time fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic specialists performing surgery in the Golden Triangle. Dr. Ferguson has just opened his new clinic at 307 Hospital Rd in Starkville.

“Dr. Ferguson's impressive credentials adds another level of expertise to our orthopedic service line,” said OCH Administrator/CEO Jim Jackson. “We are fortunate to have Dr. Ferguson join our orthopedic team. Our comprehensive orthopedic services are an important asset to this community, and we are excited to introduce our new physician.”

Dr. Ferguson earned his degree in biological sciences from Mississippi State University in 2006, and attended medical school in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his residency in orthopedics at Mercy Health in Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Ferguson was accepted into the sports medicine fellowship program at Mississippi Sports Medicine in Jackson. After completing his year-long training in sports medicine, Dr. Ferguson joined OCH in September.

“Moving my family to Starkville was a little bit like coming home for me,” said Dr. Ferguson. “This is where I spent my college years, and I love the close-knit community at OCH and Starkville. OCH is a smaller hospital with updated facilities and equipment, and that allows me to not only care for athletes but also to provide a broader scope of orthopedic care for all patients.”

Growing up in Clinton, MS, Dr. Ferguson played baseball, basketball, football and soccer, and at an early age, he was exposed to woodworking and construction. His grandfather owned a construction business and his father enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

“Choosing to specialize in orthopedics was a mixture of my love for sports and working with athletes and being able to repair something and make it better, like you would in construction,” said Dr. Ferguson.
