Daddy Boot Camp

Dad, we have your back! The OCH Daddy Boot Camp is a free workshop designed for fathers-to-be. The basic training covers feeding, diapering, swaddling and bathing your baby, as well as ways to soothe a fussy baby and support your breastfeeding partner. You’ll also learn about the latest safety information from the American Academy of Pediatrics and have the chance to visit with veteran dads about their experiences.

Grandparents Are Great

This Saturday session brings grandparents up-to-date on the latest in infant care, including everything from nutrition and safety to educational play ideas. It also includes a tour of the hospital’s labor and delivery, nursery and postpartum areas. The class is held one Saturday each quarter from 9-10:30 a.m. Fee for the class is $10 per grandparent.

Sodas for Siblings

This hour-long Saturday session at OCH helps prepare soon-to-be brothers and sisters for the new baby and begins at 8:30a.m. Children tour the labor and delivery suite and nursery, and afterwards are treated to a party. Fee for the class, which includes a certificate and an “I’m a Big Brother” or “I’m a Big Sister” T-shirt, is $20 for one sibling and $15 for each additional one. The class is free to children whose parents are enrolled in the Stork Support class.

Stork Support: Childbirth Class

These prepared childbirth classes provide helpful information about pre-natal care, relaxation techniques, labor and delivery, infant CPR, infant care, postpartum care and many other important aspects of childbirth. The course consists of four 6 p.m. Monday classes in the OCH Educational Facility. Certified childbirth educators lead the class, with special visits from healthcare professionals. Class fee is $70.

Register for Ready... Set... BABY!

  • Ready, Set, BABY! is a free educational program designed to counsel women in the prenatal stage about maternity care, including baby-friendly practices and the benefits and management of breastfeeding. Other important information is included to help women achieve their personal goals throughout pregnancy.

At OCH REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, we encourage all moms to hold their infants skin-to-skin after delivery. This time is special for you and your baby. Many studies have been done to show the benefits of this to baby and mom. We want to share some of these with you. After your baby delivers, the nursing staff will encourage and assist you to hold your baby skin-to-skin.
