“I’ve always had a great experience at OCH, not only professionally, but also personally when my family has needed care,” said Dr. Looney. “The staff is friendly, and I feel confident they are providing quality care to their patients.”

As a board-certified internal medicine specialist, Dr. Looney provides wellness exams, sick care and treatment of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. He most recently practiced at the Longest Student Health Center on the campus of Mississippi State University where he also served as a team physician for MSU athletics.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Looney join our team full-time,” said OCH Administrator/CEO Jim Jackson. “Dr. Looney brings experience and an understanding of healthcare in our community, and his commitment to providing quality care will continue to bring great value to our organization.”

“The pandemic really brought to the forefront the importance of equity in healthcare. This new position will provide an opportunity for me to expand my reach to different parts of our county and form relationships with those patients to better care for them,” said Dr. Looney.

A native of Kennett, Missouri, Dr. Looney attended Mississippi State University where he ran track and field and earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. While living in Starkville, Dr. Looney worked part-time at the Boys and Girls Club where he mentored and tutored students.
