The Surgical Unit follows the mission of the Nursing Department to provide the highest quality of patient care. Each patient is treated with the right ot personal dignity and the right to participate in personalized nursing care.  The goal of the Second Floor's nursing staff is to provide each surgical patient the individual, safe and effective care untilizing available resources and technology. 

Each patient will receive discharge instructions beginning preoperatively to prepare the patient for continuity of care following discharge.

The most frequent service provided on the Surgical Unit includes pre/operative care to general, orthopedic and urology patients.  Services are also provided to ophthalmolgy, ENT surgery, medical, gynecology and obstetrical overflow patients form fourth and third floor.  Swing beds are available for those patients that meet criteria when there are open beds.

The surgical floor is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  A physicians order is necessary before a patient can be admitted to the surgical unit.  For more information contact  Jemeica Arnold, Charge Nurse at 662-615-3260.
