Together with several student trainers, David Ruffin, Paul Mock, Jeremy Harville, Morgan Arrington and Courtney Dossett serve as liasons between the Medical Center, its medical staff and the coaches and athletes at area schools and community organizations to enhance the care provided to athletes in this area.

OCH’s certified athletic trainers are the foundation of our sports medicine program’s success.  You’ll find them on the sidelines, in the dugout and at courtside in area schools.  They stand ready to provide expert assistance whenever needed. They are on hand for team practice sessions and games to help athletes in need of injury prevention measures, injury evaluation and immediate, on site treatment.  And, should an injury require physician evaluation, treatment and/or rehabilitation, our trainers work with OCH’s team of skilled physicians and physical therapists to design a plan to return that athlete to the game.

Did You Know?

In addition, with the help of OCH volunteers and staff physicians, the trainers provide almost 1,000 area athletes FREE pre-participation sports examinations each summer. These exams help detect abnormalities as well as problems that could potentially arise as a result of a player’s medical history or a pre-existing condition.
